Forgiven People are Forgiving People ~ Christine Caine

When I was a little girl, I was lead to believe that sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me. LIES, all LIES!  Truth is, words stick forever and a lot of times we allow the words, good or bad, spoken over us - sometimes since childhood - keep us in bondage.  Someone could have said you were stupid or you were fat or you were ugly when you were 5 years old and it still hurts you at 30 and 40 years old. We've held on to the hurt and pain of those words, most times not forgiving the person/people that said them and that unforgiveness has grew into a wall in our heart.  Once that wall is up, we’re now on guard - afraid to be hurt again so we dont let people in too close because we expect for them to hurt us too.  But as a Christian, that's not the life God wants us to live.  His desire is that we live an abundant life (John 10:10), not one bound by fear, hurt and shame.

Your question may be, how can I forgive someone that hurt me?  I'm glad you asked...in no way, shape, or form do you condone the wrong or live as if the offense never happened but forgiveness is the act of pardoning the offender by letting it go and completely giving the hurt to God and no longer holding onto it. Now, there are consequences involved with every choice and descion we make...for instance I loan my friend money, that friend in turn acts as if I never loaned them the money and actually they blow the money on makeup (cause I love makeup, LOL) and now she can't repay me and apologizes. My first instinct is to be upset and hurt but I must forgive her and the consequence may be that our friendship is lost due to this.

Do you want your prayers answered, I know I sure do.  Well, according to Mark 11:24-25 we can have that happen IF we completely follow the instructions given...and that is forgive so that our Father in heaven forgives us!  I don't want my life to be less than simply becuase I can't or won't forgive.  It's essential in the life of a believer. Letting go of resentment and anger can increase your happiness, improve your health and keep you calm and at peace.   I pray you find a prayer partner that you can be 100% truthful without judgment and they help you in your walk with Christ.

Prayer: Father, I love you, thank You so much for Your Word that teaches us how to live our lives fully and completly in You.  Teach us how to allow forgiveness to live with us, every single day and if we are holding onto anything that we need to let go, give us the strength and knowledge to do just that. In Jesus Name we pray, amen!

I love you but God loves you MOST!
